Reader rating: 3 out of 10

Sometimes you may want to add characters to your Word document that are not part of the standard computer keyboard. Microsoft Word makes this easy to do with the "Insert Symbols" window.

Insert Symbols

1. Move the cursor to the place that you would like to add insert the symbol.

2. Click the Insert menu and select "Symbol..." from the menu that appears.

3. Click the symbol you would like to insert, and click the "Insert" button.

4. The character will now be inserted. You can either select and insert more symbols, or click the "Close" button to close the "Insert Symbols" window.
