Apply Drop Caps

You've seen the in newspapers, books, and magazines: drop caps.

This How-To Article shows you how to apply drop caps to your document.

Apply Drop Caps

1. Highlight the first letter of your document, which you would like to apply the drop caps to. (You can select any letter to apply the drop caps to.)

Tip: If you want to apply Drop Caps to an entire word, highlight the whole word instead of just the first letter.

2. Click the Format menu and select "Drop Cap..."

3. Select one of the three drop cap styles to apply to the letter (or word).

4. Modify the font, lines to drop, as well as the distance from the text, as necessary.

5. Click OK.

Tip: If you make a mistake when you apply the drop caps, you can easily remove the formatting by clicking "Undo" from the Edit menu or Word's toolbar.
