AutoRecover Document Settings

Reader rating: 6 out of 10

What would you do if all of the sudden you're typing a document, and Word crashes?!? Microsoft Word has a feature that helps prevent this from happening to your work. It's called AutoRecover.

If Word crashes, the next time that you open Word, the document Word crashed on will be displayed.

It is important to customize AutoRecover settings. By customizing these settings, you can set how often you would like Word to automatically save documents.

AutoRecover Document Settings

1. Click the Tools menu and select "Options..." from the menu that appears.

2. Click the "Save" tab.

3. In the "Save AutoRecover info every..." text box, enter the the number of minutes that you would like Word to save your document automatically.

Tip: You can enter a number from 1 to 120 in this text box.

Tip: If you are working with extremely important documents, be sure to decrease this number to between a 1-3. If you don't want to waste system resources by having Word do this so often, raise this number.

4. You can also disable this feature by unchecking the "Save AutoRecover info every" check box.

5. Once finished, click OK.
