Disable Automatic Word Selection

Introduction
Word will automatically select the entire word when you highlight two or more words in a document.
This article explains how to disable automatic word selection.
Disable Automatic Word Selection
1. Click the Tools menu and select "Options...".
2. Click the "Edit" tab.
3. Uncheck the "When selecting, automatically select entire word" check box.
4. Click OK.
