Change System Icons
Reader rating: 3 out of 10 Introduction Tired of the default icons for the Windows Desktop? This How-To Article shows you how to change the icons for the Recycle Bin, My Computer icon, and other Desktop system icons. Change System Icons 1. Click the Start button, point to Settings, and select "Control Panel". 2. Double-click the "Display" icon. 3. Click the Effects tab. 4. From the display of Desktop icons, click the one that you would like to modify. 5. Click the "Change Icon..." button. 6. Click the new icon that you would like to use. Tip: If the icon you want to use isn't shown, click the "Browse..." button. Icons for system icons can only be "*.ico" files. 7. Once you have finished selecting the icon you want to use, click OK. 8. You can now change other icons, or if you are finished, click Apply. 9. Click OK.
