Fix Computer Lockups
Reader rating: 3 out of 10 Introduction When your computer crashes, it is best to safely shut your computer down, or to restart it instead of just powering off your PC. This How-To Article shows you how to safely restart or shut down your computer during a crash. Fix Computer Lockups 1. Press the CTRL + ALT + Delete key combination. 2. Wait several seconds, and if Windows is still responding, the "Task Manager" window will appear. Tip: If the Task Manager window (as noted in Step 2) doesn't appear after several seconds, then Windows is not responding. In this case, you will need to manually shut off and restart your computer. 3. Once the Task Manager window appears, press the CTRL + ALT + Delete key combination again to restart your computer. 4. To shut down your computer, just press the "Shut Down" button from the Task Manager window. Tip: If Windows is extremely locked-up, it may be difficult to shut down your computer. Restarting your computer may also be difficult if Windows is locked-up. In this case, you will need to manually turn off and restart your computer.
