View System Information
Reader rating: 4 out of 10 Introduction System Information is a valuable resource. System Information is made up of lists of hardware and other controllers, with configuration information for each device. This How-To Article explains how to access this information through the "System Information" Control Panel. View System Information 1. Click the Start button, point to Settings, and select "Control Panel" from the menu that appears. 2. Double-click the "System" icon. 3. Click the "Device Manager" tab. 4. A list of device types is displayed. Clicking a "+" sign will show the components that make up that type of device. You can also select a device and click the "Properties" button to read information on it. 5. If you are trying to diagnose a computer related problem, you can also print a summary of system information. Just click the "Print..." button. 6. From the screen that appears, click the "System summary" option, and click OK. 7. The summary will now print. Tip: A system summary is a shortened form of the device summary (the "All devices and system summary" option). If you need to print all information that is available, use the "All devices and system summary". This option will use more paper, however, as this summary is complete.
