Format a Floppy Disk
Reader rating: 5 out of 10 Introduction When you Format a Floppy disk, you are getting rid of everything on the disk. Formatting also makes sure that the disk is free of errors and can be written to safely. Please note, however, that formatting a floppy disk removes everything from it. Only format a floppy disk when you are sure you do not need anything on it. Format a Floppy Disk 1. Place the disk you want to format into your computer. 2. Double-click the My Computer icon from the Desktop. 3. Right-click the 3 1/2 Floppy Drive icon, and select Format... from the menu that appears. 4. Click the Start button from the window that appears. 5. Formatting will now begin. Tip: You can customize the formatting process further by changing the options before you click the Start button.
