Copying Text in MS-DOS
Reader rating: 3 out of 10 Introduction Did you know that you can copy text from an MS-DOS window and paste it into another program? This How-To Article shows you how to take text from an MS-DOS window and paste it into another Windows program. Copying Text in MS-DOS 1. Run the commands that you need to copy in the MS-DOS window. (Access the MS-DOS window by going to: Start --> Programs --> Accessories --> MS-DOS Prompt.) 2. Click the "Selection" button (this is the first button next to the drop-down menu, at the top of the DOS window. 3. Click and drag the selection tool out until you have selected all of the text you need to copy. 4. Click the button which is next to the "Selection" button. This will place the text you have just selected onto the Clipboard. 5. Open the program that you need to paste the text in, right-click the area where you want to place the text, and select "Paste" from the menu that appears. Tip: You can also paste text from a Windows program into a DOS window. Just place the text on the Clipboard (copy it), and click the "Paste" button in the DOS window (this is the button next to the Copy button).
