Recovering a Deleted Item

Reader rating: 3 out of 10

Introduction

If you delete a file by mistake, you can usually get it back easily.

This How-To Article explains how to recover deleted items.

Recovering a Deleted Item

1. To undo a deletion, stay in the folder that you already made the deletion, right-click a blank spot on the screen, and select "Undo Delete" from the menu that appears.

2. If you have already closed the folder that you deleted the item from, double-click the Recycle Bin icon from the Desktop.

3. Right-click the file that you would like to bring back from deletion, and select "Restore" from the menu that appears.

Tip: If you empty the Recycle Bin before restoring the file, you will have no way to access the file again.
