This article explains how to set the default template.

Default Design Template

1. Create a new presentation. (Click the File menu and select "New...")

2. Click the Format menu and select "Apply Design Template".

Note: If you are using PowerPoint 2002, select "Slide Design..." from the Format menu.

3. Select the design you would like to use.

4. Click the File menu and select "Save As...".

5. From the "Save as type:" drop-down menu, select "Design Template".

6. In the "File name:" text box, type "Blank Presentation" (without the quotes).

7. Click OK.

Now, each time a new presentation is created in PowerPoint, this template will be used.
